Advisory Notes: November 27, 2019

(All students) BARD DNA is hosting a Winter Clothing Drive from November 18 to December 13! All donations will go to the Floating Hospital, an organization that provides healthcare to families regardless of insurance, immigration status, or ability to pay, in LIC.

We are collecting jackets, hats, sweaters, gloves, scarves, and other winter attire ranging in ALL SIZES for men, women, and children!

P.S. If you have non-winter clothing, donate it to the Green Team Clothing Drive this Friday, November 22nd from 8:15 to 9:00 am before school!

(All students) The Immigrant Voices Blogathon, sponsored by Undocufriendly BHSECQ and the Dream Team, generated 49 submissions for the blog! Thank you to all who submitted. Five entries will be published every Sunday over the next few weeks, so check out the blog at immigrantvoicesmag.weebly.com to read new posts every week! The winners of the Immigrant Voices Blogathon candy bags are La Fuerza Unida, who entered as a club and swept the contest with 16 entries, and three Advisories who tied with four entries each--the Machleder, Báez/Chilas, and Del Cogliano/Kempf Advisories. Congratulations! ____________________________________________________________________

(All students) This December BHSEC Queens Theater Department will be presenting the Fall Production of The Wolves, written by Sarah DeLappe. There will be 4 performances: Tuesday, December 10th at 4:00 pm, Wednesday, December 11th at 11:45 am (running through periods 4 & 5), Wednesday, December 11th at 6:30 pm, and Thursday, December 12th at 4:00 pm. Performances will take place in the Black Box Theater (Room 640).

The Wolves is a timely coming of age comedy/drama written by playwright Sarah DeLappe. Nine girls warm-up for their soccer games while they discuss everything and anything - from the Khmer Rouge to college scouts, from immigrant border camps to women's reproductive rights. Watch The Wolves as they are forced to reckon with when who you are clashes with the real world away from the soccer field.

Seating is limited so you will NEED to RESERVE a spot for yourself by signing up on the sign-up sheet on the door of the Black Box Theater. You must have 4th period free in order to attend the Wednesday 11:30 am performance. Your advisor will be notified of your absence from 5th period advisory.

Please contact Professor Timothy Ryan Olson if you would like to help usher.
