Advisory Notes: January 22, 2019

Tomorrow's skating trip to City Ice Pavilion has been postponed. We will reschedule for a later date. For a refund please stop by and see Marion Stack in room 619.

NOTE: for those who want to go skating anyway, the rink has open skate from 12 to 4. But there will not be school chaperones there, and you will have to pay the walkup rate of $13 for entry and skate rental. You will be able to grab lunch from the cafeteria in school between 11am and 12pm.

(All students) Greetings!

The BHSECQ Library is seeking Library Interns for the Spring 2020 semester!

If interested, please complete the following form by Monday, February 3rd:

(All students) NYS Archives' Student Research Awards. Submissions are due July 1, 2020.

For Year 1 and Year 2 students, you may participate in the essay competition for undergraduates.

Please note, you must seek a nomination from one of your professors for these competitions. Since the research award requires the use of historical records, the librarian is available to assist students with their research.

(All students) Spring One Act Play Auditions!

This May BHSEC Queens Theater Department will present the 8th Annual Spring One Act Play Festival. This year 6 short plays and 1 short musical will be directed by students in the college program. Auditions for actors will take place after school on Wednesday 1/29, Thursday 1/30, and Friday 1/31 from 3:30 to 5:00 in the Black Box Theater (rm. 640). You can sign up for a time slot on the door of the Black Box Theater. Call backs will be held the following week.

For the audition: Actors must prepare a 1 minute monologue. The monologue must be memorized. If you would like to audition for the musical, please also prepare 16 bars of a song to be sung a capella. Students from all years are encouraged to audition. Last year's festival had student actors from all grade levels. Rehearsals will take place before, during, or after school two times per week (exact days TBD). For more information, contact Professor Timothy Ryan Olson at
